Rabbi Eliyahu Courante

Rabbi Eliyahu Courante became our rabbi in 2002.

An orthodox rabbi, he was ordained by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

Besides teaching Talmud and Semitics in Ohr Somayach Yeshiva of Jerusalem and heading a section in the Kashruth Department of Jerusalem Rabbinate, our Rabbi held a temporary position of the chief rabbi of Siberia and Russian Far East.

Rabbi Courante is a contributor of numerous articles in various Jewish periodicals.

Since coming to B'nai Israel, Rabbi Courante has expanded the synagogue services to attract more participation and has encouraged the development of innovative ritual and educational programs.

Rabbi Courante, not just a spiritual leader but a profound educator as well, teaches adult education classes, bar- and bat-mitzva students and most of our Hebrew School classes; he leads our services and officiates at simchas, funerals and unveilings; visits the sick and the elderly. He is available for family counseling and to instruct potential converts to Judaism.

Rabbi Courante lives in St. Catharines with his wife Irina and their daughters Rachel and Arielle.
